Life throws us curve balls

Maija-Liisa was admitted into Utah Valley Regional Hospital Sunday night after feeling some cramping and contractions. She was dilated to a 4 and 90% effaced when they checked her and said that we would be there until the babies come. It's unknown how long we will be here in the hospital. I don't know how many people that come to the hospital that hope that they are there for a long time, but the longer we are here the longer the babies will have to develope.

We had a doctor from the NICU come in and have a discussion with us about all of the things that we could expect from a baby that comes at 23 weeks and all the statistics that go along with it and then he finished saying the fact that there are twins makes everything he just told us worse. A week ago if the babies came then they wouldn't have attempted to revive them. But even if they were to come now there is a small chance they would survivie. If they did survive then there would be serious dissabilities.

So we hope and pray every day for another day of unborn babies. If we can hit the milestone of 28 weeks their chances are significantly higher. We have had lots of ultrasounds and the babies seem to be perfectly fine and healthy. Often times when there is pre-term deliveries it is due to a problem with the baby or babies but that doesn't seem to be the case with us.

When we had Ava Maija-Liisa was dilated to a 3 and 100% effaced and it was still a few weeks before we had the baby and we were doing all kinds of active things to make it come. That that gives us hope that maija-Liisa can hold these babies for several weeks. She is still having contractions that seem to be irregular.

We have a wonderful staff here taking care of us and helping us every day. We are blessed to be in this hospital. For now my parents have been watching Ava and there have been many willing to lend a hand in watching her or helping wherever we need.

We are grateful for so many wonderful friends and family who care and support us. We are grateful for the knowledge we have of our Heavenly Father's plan for us. Maija-Liisa has been surprisingly calm and and peaceful. We know that whatever happens we will have a chance to raise these babies.
