little miss independent is ten months old

Ava is still little... barely 16 lbs. She still fits in most of her 6 month clothes. She is also not going to be gaining any significant weight anytime soon. WHy you ask? She refuses to eat solids most of the time. At least if anyone BUT ava is feeding her. Therefore, as you can see in the picture above, feeding time has become quite the mess. It seems the messier it is the more Ava will eat, or maybe it just looks the way. I have had to get very creative lately such as using a graham cracker for a spoon, letting ava use mashed potatoes as finger paint, and letting ava drink baby food peaches out of her bowl. She spits out most table food so it is hard to get enough food in her little belly since she started refusing baby food out of a spoon. Hopefully it is just a phase? It has sure been an adventure let me tell you.

Ava loves to sing songs and play rhyme games such as patty cake. She is a professional at "throwing it in the oven!" (see pic below) She now claps when she hears a crowd clapping even if she can't actually see that people are clapping. She will do popcorn popping, and she will clap along to If you're happy and you know it. I think she knows where our noses are and will sometimes point to my nose when I ask where my nose is. She LOVES to be read to and will point at all the pictures. She actually points to everything now- it is her latest skill. She still LOVES music. We have dance parties most nights when daddy gets home. She shakes her head and dances along to the music. She also tried to lead the music at church. I think she will be a dancer. She gets a HUGE grin on her face when we turn on the music. She shakes her head no when you ask her for kisses (maybe she gets too many?) ;), and also when she doesn't want something we offer her.

Ava now scoots on her belly army style everywhere. I think she could crawl if she just did it. But now that she can get anywhere she wants she just doesn't really care. One of her favorite places to go is under the kitchen table. She is also a professional crumb finder. I have become a lot cleaner this past month... thanks ava :) She will finally let me hold her hands and walk. She is good at standing up by herself next to something, but hasn't started cruising yet. She does "planks" all the time... where she is on her hands and her feet with her belly all the way off the ground. It is hilarious to watch. She is a strong little girl.

Ava LOVES balloons! They are probably her favorite toy right now. Especially the punching balloons. She also loves playing with balls. One of her latest discoveries has been the door stoppers that boing when you flick them. She especially likes the white part on the end that comes off and can fit right inside her mouth. We no longer have the white part on the end of them.

Ava is still so much fun and Jared and I spend many nights acting like fools to get her to laugh. We love her so much, and you can definately tell she has a STRONG personality and STRONG opinions about things. She is a sweetheart, but she knows what she wants. I thought that wasn't supposed to start until they were TWO???

  1. That's what i thought. They are always talking about him in my classes because apparently he did PR and is AMAZING at social media. I wonder if it is pretty normal to have huge wards. We need to get together sometime.
